High On Fire and Mutoid Man bassist Jeff Matz has played a Dunable for years, and now he’s got his own signature model! The super limited Jeff Matz JM5 Signature Bass has a 34″ scale, Black Limba body with Wenge neck and Ebony fretboard, Hipshot Ultralite tuners, and A-Style bridge. The Jeff Matz signature looks pretty bare bones, but man – if you’ve ever heard this thing at a High On Fire show, you know it brings the absolute fucking thunder with that Dunable D-Split pickup.
“Jeff Matz needs no introduction at this point. His work with High On Fire earned them a Grammy (finally the Academy got a ‘Best Metal Performance’ winner right) and most musicians agree that he should be carved into the Mount Rushmore of modern bassists,” wrote Dunable of the model. “Jeff actually commissioned the first ever Dunable bass (dubbed the Thunderclapper) so his vision has been the template for every model we’ve designed since. Thus, it should come as no surprise that we are announcing our 5th signature Bass in collaboration with him, The JM5.”
Matz added: “These features made for an instrument that is both visually stunning and sonically punchy. I immediately adopted it as my main bass for tour.”
