Doug Aldrich – guitarist for everyone from Whitesnake and Dio to his modern band The Dead Daisies – has teamed up with Blackstar for a brand new amplifier head.
The DA100 Ruby is a riff of the classic Blackstar HT Stage 100 MK III that Alrich has been using for years, and with a few upgrades. The DA100 Ruby offers up 100 watts of power, three channels each with two distinct voices, and a slight midrange tweak to add some extra Aldrich-requested heft.
The DA100 Ruby features a 3-band EQ for both the distorted and clean channels, a handy power reduction switch to knock things down to 10% power, a dual-voice digital reverb, and the ability to cop ultra-authentic CabRig speaker-simulated tones via the USB and XLR outs. There’s also a footswitchable effects loop and a 5-way controller that you can fully customize using Blackstar’s Architect software.
