Barefaced Bass Cabinets Levels Up to Generation 3 Cabinets

British amp makers Barefaced Audio have just revised their cabinets to a third generation, or “Generation 3″ as they refer to it. It involves new construction and drivers in the 12” speakers found in the company’s Big Baby and Big Twin cabinets. To quote designer Alex Claber:

“The key is our new custom 12XN550 speaker driver, which has taken over two years to develop. We wanted great transient response (timing), polar response (dispersion) and dynamic response (from quiet to loud) rather than just thinking about frequency response from low to high.”

So those new versions are titled Big Baby II and Big Twin II, even though they’re Generation 3 cabinets. I may have qualms with Barefaced’s numbering scheme. But digits aside, Barefaced makes quality cabs, so head over to the company’s website to check out their wares.
