ANOTHER Songwriting Contest? YEP.

It’s true. After doing not one, but TWO different songwriting contests over the last couple of years, I have once again abandoned reason for madness.

This time, though, I’m doing it differently. This time, you can’t just send me a demo you recorded 7 years ago with your old band that you never released. In fact, you can’t send me anything you recorded before the same day I’m judging it.

That’s because we’re DOIN IT LIVE!

My new series ROLL FOR SONG has me at the whims of fortune, and she is not merciful. Once a week on my Twitch stream, I roll dice to determine the starting point for the song – tempo, key, song topic, drum grooves, etc – and then I set a 3 hour timer and write the best song I can within that framework.

Here’s where you come in: if you’re subscribed to me on Twitch, you can download the same drums that I’m using (audio or MIDI) and within that 3 hour time limit, write your OWN song with the same attributes, and then when the timer goes off, you submit it to SONG COMBAT and I listen on the spot and pick a winner.

You can get in on the action every Tuesday at 1pm PST, ONLY on Twitch.

Oh whaddya know – TODAY is Tuesday. Looks like somebody’s gonna win this Revv G3 Anniversary pedal today… will it be you?

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
