All the chatter this week has been about Metallica and Lady Gaga’s performance at the Grammy’s, which, in case you missed it, was botched by James Hetfield’s microphone having no crowd or broadcast feed (it’s even gone as far as to notch a Washington Post article!).
I may be in the minority of people who hopes they attempt this  again – other than the weird background dancers and technical issues, it was a pretty interesting, exciting performance. It’s pretty rare that a band so deep into their career and genre as Metallica would seek out experimenting with something so radical – and even rarer that a pop star as huge as Lady Gaga would be not just willing to do it, but ready to go ALL OUT.
But lucky for us, Stephen Colbert and company have located the missing vocal track, which you can hear below (the segment on Metallica starts at around the 0:30 mark).
