When I listen to Animals as Leaders I sometimes like to pretend I know what’s going on, although truthfully, I haven’t got a fucking clue. Luckily, Matt Garstka has developed a series of videos which break down the many drum parts on the Madness of Many album so you can also pretend you know what’s going on, called “The Madness of Matt“.

As you can see from this teaser video, it’s all shot really nicely in a crystal clear 1080HD. Matt breaks down the Animals as Leaders tracks; Arithmophobia, Ectogenesis, Cognitive Contortions, Inner Assassins and Backpfeifengesicht. Each one has its own transcript with added helpful groupings markers to really help you get to grips with these tricky parts.
An extremely talented drummer, Matt started teaching at age 14 and has gone on to be one of the most prolific drummers in the genre, this guy is undoubtedly gifted. Concerned with spreading his knowledge and helping people practice in the most efficient way possible, Matt has taken it upon himself to help out aspiring drummers at a good price. In short, he knows what he’s doing and he’s not charging you much to teach you what he knows.
You can get the package here for 50 bucks, as Matt says though, make sure you have room for it as it’s a stonking 13.5GB – but at least you know you are getting a decent amount of content for your coin. His self-proclaimed biggest project to date is definitely worth the time and money to get to know a seriously good band’s songs.
