SECRET SOCIETY Blaze Through “The Enemy Within”

Last week, I premiered “Dark Alliance,” a funky, mind-warping track from the titanic steampunk jazz outfit, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society. The band are about to release what I think is the best record of the year so far, Real Enemies, a concept album about conspiracy theories, written entirely in 12-tone music. If you’re a prog/metal kid looking to get into jazz, they are a great place to start, and this album is a true behemoth. I’ve been showing this band to metalheads, jazz fans, and music nerds alike for years, and people always basically have the same reaction: holy shit.

Darcy & co. just released an in-studio performance video for another track off Real Enemies, “The Enemy Within,” featuring tenor saxophonist John Ellis laying down a totally smokin’ solo. It’s one of my favorites off the album, and one of the most metallic. Check it out below:
