John Carpenter Directs and Riffs in “Distant Dream” Studio Clip

One of the albums I’m most excited about this year is filmmaker-composer John Carpenter’s Lost Themes II, the follow up to last year’s phenomenal first installment. The difference between these two works in particular is that Carpenter went for much more of a live-band feel, with less of the writing and recording relying on Logic plugins and more on the classic “riff in a room” method.

So I’m stoked that Carpenter not only released a music video for the song “Distant Dream,” but actually retracked a live performance as opposed to having the band mime on their instruments. He also directed the clip, which obviously sets it in a different category than most of this sort. Check it out below:

Carpenter is also going on his first ever tour, performing songs from the albums as well as his classic scores. Get dates and tickets for those shows here – you’re not going to want to miss this.
