With their new EP I Let The Devil In out now (via SharpTone Records), Conneticuit-based metal band Currents have been going hard promoting the new tunes, and with good reason! The new EP is downright blistering, both technically and melodically. So, we’ve teamed up with the band to premiere this exclusive guitar playthrough of the track “Forever Marked” by guitarist Chris Wiseman, only right here, on Gear Gods!
About the song, guitarist Chris had this to say:
“This song definitely takes the cake for uncomfortable chord transitions out of all the songs, which appears throughout the song but it really felt appropriate to me to have it as a recurring theme. It was very satisfying for me getting the verse riff down, it’s one of the more chaotic things I was able to get out there and I’m hoping to explore that realm more in the future.”
As you can tell, “Forever Marked” has a great blend of heavy and catchy elements that keep pushing it forward until the very end. Every part of this song serves some kind of purpose, whether it be the reoccurring melodic tapping line, the incredibly punchy chorus, or the breakdowns that come and go throughout the track. It’s all wrapped up nicely by Chris’ super clean playing, and we can’t wait to hear more from these guys.
