Vancouver-based progressive thrash metalheads Expain are one of these upcoming bands that have a lot of promise ahead of them. Taking influence from bands like Abriosis, Vektor, and Revocation, the band puts their own entertaining twist on some of the most unrelenting metal styles out there. By combining gnarly riffage with the simple joy of playing some damn fun music, the band is almost guaranteed to make you smile, at the very least. And what better reason to smile than because of a brand-new song and guitar playthrough! That’s why the band has released the official guitar playthrough for their new song “Corridors of the Mind”, premiered exclusively on Gear Gods!
The track is off the band’s upcoming EPÂ Pinching Nerves, set to be released September 15th of this year. The tracklisting for the six song EP can be found below. It also features a killer guest solo by guitarist Dan Mongrain (Voivod, Martyr), so you know it’s gonna be good. And did we mention the video was shot and edited by our very own Connor Gilkinson? There’s simply nothing he can’t do!
Track Listing for Pinching Nerves:
1. They Live
2. The Witch Is Dead
3. Pinching Nerves
4. Corridors Of The Mind ft. guest guitar solo Dan Mongrain (Voivod, Martyr)
5. Pathways
6. Torch Formula
Now catchy shredding aside, the dudes are clearly having some fun in this video, which makes us like them all the more. I mean, for crying out loud, their playing in a boat together. The fact that they’re unashamedly having a good time just increases their likeability, and the tune definitely shows it. I wonder how many boats the next playthrough will have.
To prepare for the thrashiness that is their newest album, don’t forget to get at Expain’s Facebook and Bandcamp pages. To catch them on tour with Calgary-based metal act Divinity, check out the tour dates below. The dudes are pretty much always having a blast, so we’re sure you will too.
