A real Echoplex tape delay is not only difficult to find in working order and extremely expensive, they’re also notoriously unreliable and high maintenance. I’m not gonna tell you it wouldn’t be worth it to get one and put the work into it – that’s for you to decide. But I will tell you that there’s now a cheaper, simpler, smaller “next best thing” option – the Dunlop Echoplex pedal(s).
In this video, Paul Riario from Guitar World demonstrates how the new Echoplex pedal simulates not only the sound of a brand new unit fresh from the factory, but the Age feature allows you to dial in varying levels of old and worn Echoplex sounds, for a more authentic experience of a unit you might find in working condition today.

How does this compare to the Catalinbread Belle Epoch, which I think came out first and is emulating the same echo unit? http://catalinbread.com/product/belle-epoch/
