In case this is the first you’re hearing of it, the friends at Strandberg Guitars have just today announced the following:

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And this year, at .strandberg* Guitars and Spark, we are teaming up with Trey Xavier (Gear Gods, Roll for Song, In Virtue) for a Christmas Songwriting Competition to celebrate the holidays.

To one talented songwriter, we will be giving away a brand new Boden Standard N2 in a soon-to-be-announced color. To five runner ups, we will be providing an Industry Discount (25% off) for one purchase and a bundle of swag from us. We’re looking for you to write a song that captures the joyous holiday spirit in a song under 3 minutes. The song can be in any genre or style, and doesn’t need to necessarily be about Christmas in order to be eligible. Just imagine if you had to write the next big holiday tune!

The top 10 finalists will be featured in a live reaction hosted by Trey Xavier and Guests at the Trey Xavier Twitch and YouTube Channel on December 17th, 2025. Entry form closes at December 14th, 2025 at 11:59pm CSTFor full terms and conditions, and entry form, follow the link below. Limited to residents of the United States of America, and Europe (UK included) https://forms.gle/Y9GZsv6gpGrVUq7D8

So start praying to Mariah Carey and Michael Buble that the holiday spirit enters your body and your fingers that you might write something so giving that I might pick you to join them in the pantheon of jingles for jingle bell season!

I can’t wait to hear all your entries, this is gonna be fun.

Good luck and gong bless.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
