Contest: How Would YOU Like to Be the Next JamPlay Guitar Instructor?

Many of my favorite bands are from Brooklyn. Although sure, there’s a certain percentage of great artists who tend to gravitate towards their nation’s cultural epicenters, I don’t think we have a monopoly on talent in the area. I’m simply part of the local music scene, so it’s easy for me to find amazing bands, all the time. The caliber of talent that I stumble upon can be staggering–and often I find myself thinking, “if this musician would only get some widespread exposure, they would garner untold legions of devoted disciples.” I’m sure plenty of Gear Gods readers have the same feelings about their own community. Simply put, there are hoards of amazing players that unfortunately go overlooked by the bulk of us.

Now we’re teaming up with JamPlay to change that. Are you a guitar wizard? Do fans hang out as you warm up before a gig, just to watch your fingers move? And can you impart those teachings to your disciples? Because JamPlay may want you to be their next instructor.

Here’s how the contest works: Create one short video lesson (2-5 minutes in length), upload it to your YouTube channel, and then paste it into the entry form below.

Now take note, we want to be wowed by more than your sick skills. JamPlay are looking for their next instructor, after all. If all they wanted were ill sweeping skills they’d be hiring a janitor. Your lesson should be distilled tutorial perfection: informative, concise, interesting, personable, and if you can put your own unique stamp on it then go for it (but please no gimmicks).

Our editorial staff will select a batch of the best submissions, and then turn them over to the community, who will select the victor. JamPlay will bring that winner to their Colorado headquarters where he or she will have their lessons professionally filmed and hosted on the service, next to guitar gods like Tosin Abasi, Emil Werstler, and Bumblefoot.

We’ll be accepting submissions from today through the end of the month, and then we turn the best of the best to face reader judgement on September 15th. The best of luck to you. Strength and honor.
