Teenage Engineering has released the EP-2350 FX MIC, a handheld microphone built to double as a performance instrument. Rather than simply capturing vocals, the EP-2350 processes them live, combining lo-fi effects, onboard sampling, and hands-on parameter control in a single mic.
The FX MIC ships with four onboard voice effects — Echo, Echo+Spring, Pixie, and Robot — giving performers instant access to a range of vocal transformations without any external gear. A dedicated handle lets users adjust effect parameters in real time, and the mic can also be physically shaken to modulate assigned parameters, adding a motion-based layer of control during a performance.
Sampling is built in as well, with four onboard sample slots for triggering sounds, loops, or drops directly from the mic. Factory samples can be swapped out for custom WAV files, and the EP-2350 supports mono or stereo samples in 8-, 16-, 24-bit, or 32-bit floating-point formats at sample rates up to 96kHz, backed by 1MB of onboard storage.
For deeper customization, users can edit the mic’s onboard config.json file to redesign effect chains and reassign how parameters respond to the handle, motion, and other modulation sources — a path beyond the four factory presets for players who want to build their own signal chain from scratch.
The EP-2350 connects to Teenage Engineering EP-40 RIDDIM or any sound system via a 1/8″ line output, delivered through an attached curly cable. Power is handled by either two AAA batteries for fully portable use or USB-C for a connected setup.
