Roland has introduced the TD-07DMK2 and TD-07KV2, two updated electronic drum kits that bring new pads, hardware improvements, and expanded learning features to the company’s TD-07 lineup.
The TD-07DMK2 is the more affordable and compact of the two, offering a five-piece configuration with smaller pads and an additional cymbal arm for adding a second crash later. The five-piece TD-07KV2 steps things up with larger pads and two crash cymbals, giving players more room for fills, rudiments, and generally flailing around behind the kit.
Both models use snare and tom pads derived from Roland’s V-Drums 3 Series, complete with dual mesh heads and updated sensor systems. A freestanding KD-10 kick pad is also included and supports both single and double beaters.
Roland has redesigned the racks with more components pre-installed to cut down on setup time. The wider center pipe also allows players to upgrade to the company’s KDQ-8 kick pad from the low-noise V-Drums Quiet Design series.
At the center of both kits is the TD-07 module, offering a range of drum sounds alongside deeper editing and kit-saving options. Bluetooth connectivity allows players to jam along with music from a phone or use audio and MIDI with compatible apps.
Roland has also updated the module’s Coach mode with exercises covering timing and accuracy, multiple difficulty levels, scoring, and an advanced metronome. Both kits include free access to Drum Pass from Melodics, featuring interactive lessons developed specifically for V-Drums players.
The TD-07DMK2 and TD-07KV2 are also compatible with a range of Roland pads and accessories, leaving room for either kit to grow alongside the player. Get ’em here – the TD-07DMK2 for $899.99 and the TD-07KV2 for $1,099.99.
