How To Write A Song From A KILLER Bassline – In 20 Minutes!

I’m sure I’m not the only person who does this – jamming around on bass, I come up with a cool bassline, record it in Voice Memos, think of it from time to time, and then never do ANYTHING with it, even though it’s great. Have you ever done this?

Well, I figured it was time to work up a way to turn these cool bass ideas into songs – so just for you, I developed this tutorial of different ideas you can use to transform a single bass idea into a complete track! Using Toontrack’s EZBass software, I walk you through a number of compositional ideas for this purpose in the above video.

If you enjoy this one, you’ll definitely want to check out my other songwriting videos here – happy composing!

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
