What would metal sound like in the year 1349?

Metal is often about brutality – pain, anguish, torture, disgusting diseases that turn the human body into something unrecognizable.

Well, there may have been no time in history more suited for the topics of metal than the Medieval period – the Black Plague wiped out more than a third of Europe’s population, the Inquisition was torturing and killing anyone they felt like, and basically everything sucked. It was a bad time to be a human being – but a great time to visit to make a metal song with some peasant bards.

So that’s what I did! I took my trusty ol’ Retcon3000 time machine and risked life and limb (am I vaccinated for the bubonic plague? I have no idea) to bring metal to the miserable masses.

And as an added bonus, I brought the wildly cool Osmose keyboard by Expressive E to blow these peasants’s minds with MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression).

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
