Polyphia are an incredibly bizarre oddity to me. Four young, good looking dudes who are all absolute monsters on their instruments, playing entirely instrumental music, and they are achieving an unheard-of level of popularity considering their age and genre. Where do people like that even find each other?

Their studio albums are very much on the polished side, and with bands like that I’m always curious to hear how they sound in a more raw state, with greater limitations placed on them – such as the live arena.

So I was very pleased to see this Dunlop Sessions video with the boys playing a live in-studio set and totally killing it. I hope Dunlop is planning on making more of these, because it’s a very cool format.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
