Toontrack is on a roll this month with their releases – I mean, of course would think that, seeing as it’s Metal Month – and they’re continuing that trend with the new DOOM|CORE MIDI groove pack, featuring Code Orange drummer Jami Morgan.

We’re your number one source for all things Metal Month, including our Superior Drummer 3 tutorials and our Drumception series where we had some celebrity guitarists write a song over a drum track by Megadeth’s Dirk Verbeuren. Feel left out? You can record your own version and enter it here into our Drumception contest!

Here’s Toontrack with the details of the new MIDI pack:

Umeå, Sweden, November 14, 2017.
Today, Toontrack announced the Doom/Core MIDI pack, a collection of drum grooves and fills inspired by doom, sludge and hardcore. This marks the sixty-eighth individual title in Toontrack’s ever-growing line of drum MIDI and the third release of the company’s annual Metal Month campaign running every year in November.

About the Doom/Core MIDI pack
The Doom/Core MIDI pack takes the crushing heaviness of doom and sludge and melds it with the ferocity and vigor of hardcore to form a cunning fusion of grooves for modern metal. Performed by acclaimed Code Orange drummer Jami Morgan, this collection takes a toehold on not only his own band’s songs but just as much the spur of the moment. In total, you get a broad collection of inventive drumming for use in any modern heavy rock or metal context. Expect anything from devastating heaviness to relentless aggression.

• Drum grooves and fills inspired by doom and hardcore music
• Performed by Jami Morgan (Code Orange)
• 4/4 in straight and/or swing feel
• Tempos ranging from 80 BPM to 200 BPM
• Song structure categorization (intro, verse, chorus, bridge, fills, etc.)

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.

  • I own 12+ metal midi packs from Toontrack (Library Of The Extreme, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Drum Riffs, etc.) and recently purchased DoomCore. I can honestly say it was the first time I was disappointed with a midi pack. My advice would be to look at other Toontrack packs besides this one.
