Origin Effects has introduced the EQDELUXE, an all-analog EQ pedal inspired by the legendary Pultec EQP-1A studio equalizer, bringing one of recording’s most celebrated tonal shaping tools to guitar and bass rigs.
The EQDELUXE reproduces the Pultec’s frequency response inductive EQ circuitry and the musical curves that have made the original a studio staple for decades. Frequency points have been carefully selected for electric guitar and bass, while the pedal’s high-headroom design also allows it to work with audio interfaces, mixing consoles, and other line-level studio gear.
One of the pedal’s standout features is its recreation of the famous “Pultec trick.” By simultaneously boosting and cutting the low-frequency band, players can achieve the distinctive EQ curve that adds low-end weight while cleaning up the lower mids. That means a fuller bass response with improved clarity, making the effect equally useful for bass guitar, electric guitar, and other instruments.
Beyond EQ, the pedal also captures another hallmark of the original hardware: its output-stage coloration. The vintage Pultec’s push-pull tube makeup amplifier contributed subtle harmonic richness that engineers have long prized. Origin Effects recreates that character with a carefully designed solid-state push-pull drive circuit, delivering controlled, tube-like saturation without relying on valves.
The remainder of the EQ section is equally tailored for instruments. An inductive midrange band provides musical boost frequencies optimized for guitar and bass, while the high-frequency attenuation section gently rolls off top end to produce warmer, smoother tones without sounding harsh or unnatural.
