The First-Ever BOSS CE-1 Has Been Found And It’s F*cking Expensive

You can own the first-ever Boss CE-1 chorus pedal from 1976, but it’s going to cost you a million bucks. Literally one million United States Dollars. The pedal is up for sale on Reverb by seller Pedal Palace, whose description of the pedal is extremely upfront (and at least pretty funny) and kicks off as such: “Hello, are you a super wealthy pedal collector? A member of the Beatles perhaps? Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk? Tipsy John Mayer? Well then I’ve got just the thing for you. To my knowledge, this is the very first Boss CE-1. Hence the serial number S000001. If you’re looking for a grail, something to make literally every guitar player jealous… well here it is.”

Pedal Palace notes they didn’t have any intention to sell the pedal prior, but “times are tight and medical tragedies have afflicted my family, so here I am.” As for any other offers than one million bucks, Pedal Palace notes that there ain’t a chance that’s happening. “It will probably be worth 10 million in 20 years. So no, I won’t accept your offer of 50k. And no I’m not going to open it up and show you the guts. I don’t want to release the old mojo air that still lives inside. That air can only be smelled by people that give me 1 million dollars. Yes it works. And yes I will include the case with the sale. Might even hand deliver in person if you live somewhere cool like Australia or Tokyo. That’s all. Have a nice day.”
