Seymour Duncan has teamed up with Cavity guitarist Draven Noire to demo the (sort of) new Wes Hauch Jupiter Rails humbuckers. I say “sort of” because these are the same Wes Hauch Jupiter Rails humbuckers that you’ve seen before, but this time they’ve black rails in centers instead of the usual silver metal look.
On the pickups, Draven Noire said: “I would definitely say these are like a very versatile pickup in comparison to some other modern passive humbuckers. Which isn’t a huge surprise since a lot of the playing that I’ve seen from Wes and his guitars with his pickups in it, he kind of pulls off a lot of different sounds with just the one guitar, which is pretty impressive.
“And so tonally I feel like these are more balanced than a typical modern humucker where you get a lot of top end and either kind of the low end is very cut down or it’s kind of like boosted almost.”
Designed in close collaboration with Hauch, the set uses dual steel rails and a ceramic magnet, tuned into a high-output wind that prioritizes clarity and power. Instead of the usual compressed blur that can come with high-gain pickups, these are voiced to keep each string evenly represented, even under extreme saturation.
