YouTube metal titan Ryan “Fluff” Bruce has teamed up with Seymour Duncan for a fittingly heavy new signature pickup: the FLF Model.
The pickup takes inspiration from the JB Model and the Black Winter, putting it in the middle of two total crushers. By pairing a coil from each pickup and experimenting with magnet configurations, Fluff and the Custom Shop crew landed on an Alnico 4 bar magnet as the magic ingredient — delivering the perfect balance of aggression, clarity, and punch.
The FLF dishes out a thick, snarling midrange with a razor-sharp percussive attack tailor-made for drop-tuned riffing, yet still retains enough smoothness and articulation up top to make sure you’re hearing everything nice and clear.
And while the pickup is undeniably engineered for high-gain punishment, it is not a one-trick chug machine. Roll back the volume knob and the FLF cleans up with a surprisingly warm, chiming response that gives players access to a broad tonal palette without ever touching the amp.
Visually, the FLF keeps things stealthy and modern with matte black bobbins, black nickel screws and studs, the classic Olde English Seymour Duncan logo, short mounting legs, and a four-conductor cable setup. For players looking to personalize their rigs even further, the Custom Shop also offers expanded cosmetic options.
“Being able to combine my favorite Seymour Duncan tones into one pickup that works with everything I do is truly a sonic gift!” said Bruce.
