PRS Guitars has teamed up with Land Rover Defender and John Mayer for the Silver Sky Defender Color Collection, bringing eight Defender-inspired finishes to the Silver Sky and SE Silver Sky.
The US-made Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition comes in four heritage Defender colors: Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red, and Sandglow Yellow. Arles Blue is particularly significant to Mayer, as it’s the color of the Defender he’s owned for nearly two decades.
Each US-made model features a white pickguard and control knobs, a matching painted headstock, and a special neckplate featuring the Defender logo and corresponding color name. The guitars also ship in exclusive hard cases featuring the Defender wordmark. PRS will produce just 500 examples of each color worldwide.
The SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition takes a more contemporary approach with Petra Copper, Sedona Red, Carpathian Grey, and Woolstone Green finishes. Each comes with black pickguards and control knobs – a first for the Silver Sky – alongside Defender-branded neckplates and an exclusive PRS/Defender gig bag.
Unlike the US-made guitars, production of the SE models isn’t capped at a specific number. Instead, they’ll be available during a limited ordering period running through midyear 2027.
PRS will also produce a small number of Silver Sky Defender guitars in British Racing Green. Those won’t be available for purchase and will instead be used for fundraising efforts supporting the Defender Service Awards and Mayer’s Heart and Armor Foundation.
