PRS Guitars has announced a new Sweetwater-exclusive Black Satin colorway of the SE Chleo, the signature model built with DragonForce guitarist Herman Li. Every other spec on the guitar remains identical to the standard catalog SE Chleo, with the finish serving as the sole distinction for this run.
The release is timed to two milestones: it kicks off Sweetwater’s “Guitar Month,” which brings limited-time discounts, special financing, and custom instrument setups, and it lines up with the 20th anniversary of DragonForce’s “Inhuman Rampage” album — the record behind the platinum-selling single “Through the Fire and Flames,” which spent 23 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200. The new Black Satin finish is a direct nod to that album’s artwork. DragonForce will mark the anniversary with a North American tour hitting 22 cities this November and December, joined by Ensiferum and Rhapsody of Fire.
The SE Chleo itself is based on the exclusive 2025 Chleo Limited Edition and was developed through close collaboration between PRS and Li, known for his fast, precise playing style in DragonForce. Li said the goal with the SE Chleo was to create the best affordable professional-quality guitar unlike anything else available, delivering effortless playability, outstanding craftsmanship, and a versatile tonal range that combines modern innovations with classic style. He added that the guitar was tour-tested to hold up through repeated intense live shows under any touring conditions.
Tonally, the SE Chleo carries over the same Fishman Fluence Signature Series Omniforce Herman Li pickups found on the Limited Edition it’s based on. With three distinct voices and a versatile switching system, the guitar offers up to 13 unique tone combinations, giving players a wide sonic range from a single instrument.
