Gretsch has introduced the Streamliner CVT, a new solidbody electric guitar that combines modern appointments with the company’s usual styling at an accessible price point – under $250. Or as Gretsch put it: “the Streamliner CVT has everything you need to crank out massive riffs and searing solos without breaking the bank.”
The Streamliner CVT features a double-cut Mahogany body with beveled contours and a rounded heel for improved comfort and upper-fret access. A bolt-on mahogany neck sports Gretsch’s new Fast “C” profile, offering a slimmer feel that’s intended to accommodate a wide range of playing styles, while a bound 12″-radius Laurel fingerboard carries 22 medium jumbo frets and Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays.
Gretsch has also equipped the guitar with its Pitch-Perfect head angle, a design intended to improve tuning stability by reducing string binding at the nut. That system is paired with a Graph Tech NuBone nut and sealed die-cast tuners, while a compensated wraparound bridge helps improve intonation and sustain.
Electronically, the CVT keeps things simple with a pair of newly designed HotWire high-output ceramic humbuckers controlled by master volume and master tone knobs alongside a three-way pickup selector. According to Gretsch, the pickups are voiced to deliver everything from articulate clean tones to high-gain rock sounds, with vacuum wax potting minimizing unwanted noise.
Visually, the Streamliner CVT offers up a distinctive Split-V headstock, gloss finish, chrome hardware, and several new color options, including Jet Black.
