GIBSON Releases New Version of Tony Iommi’s 1964 Gibson SG

If you’ve never quite been able to nail down Tony Iommi’s classic Black Sabbath, tone, Gibson has you covered. The company has just rolled out a recreation of Iommi’s heavily-modified 1964 Gibson SG, aptly named the Tony Iommi SG Special. Though I would’ve also accepted The Stoner Metal Dream Machine as a name.

The Tony Iommi SG Special features a Mahogany body finished in Cherry, along with a Mahogany neck with a 22-fret Indian Rosewood fretboard and Cream Binding. The SG also comes loaded with two chrome-covered P-90 pickups for that extra chunky “Into The Void”-type tone, and even has a reproduction of Tony’s “Monkey” sticker on the case. Basically, you’re given the tools of the Iommic trade on this one. For hardware, the Tony Iommi SG Special offers a Graph Tech nut and Grover Rotomatic tuners with contemporary style buttons.

The Tony Iommi SG Special is available here for $2,399.
