Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert is arguably one of the biggest things to ever happen in metal. The long-awaited, one-night-only event is happening on Saturday, July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, marking the first full performance in over 20 years by the original Black Sabbath lineup — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward.
To honor this milestone and support a greater cause, Gibson will donate two Gibson SG Standard guitars — the iconic model forever linked to Tony Iommi — to be autographed backstage by the original lineup and auctioned to fans around the world.
These one-of-a-kind instruments will be available via a charity auction at www.ozzyauction.co.uk, which runs until 10 PM BST on Sunday, July 6. Proceeds will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice, three organizations deeply connected to the Osbourne family.
“It’s an honor to pay tribute to Tony Iommi and Black Sabbath, and it’s back to the beginning for me as well,” said Cesar Gueikian, President and CEO of Gibson. “I started playing guitar because of Tony’s riffs. Tony is THE RIFFLORD, and the bands performing in his honor on this day owe him everything for paving the way for heavy metal.”
The Gibson SG Standard featured in the auction captures everything players love about the SG’s classic late-’60s DNA — from its solid Mahogany body and rounded-profile Mahogany neck to its 490R and 490T Alnico II humbuckers, capable of everything from clean vintage tones to full-throttle distortion.
With chrome hardware, a long-tenon neck joint for enhanced resonance, and Grover Rotomatic tuners for precision tuning, this SG is a purebred rock machine. A black 5-ply pickguard and silver reflector knobs complete the vintage vibe. Each guitar comes in a soft shell case and will be personally signed by Sabbath members backstage at Villa Park.
In addition to the SG auction, Gibson will also be on-site backstage, offering a curated selection of guitars, interactive experiences, and a photo booth in collaboration with Indian Motorcycles. It’s all part of the exclusive VIP and artist lounge environment being built to celebrate this monumental reunion.
This is more than a show — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime moment in heavy music history. And with every bid, fans will be helping fund life-changing medical research and care.
