The new EVH 5150III Hypersonic 6L6 2×12 Combo has one mission, and that’s to provide you with all the chunky high-gain goodness you need.

Built as a digital recreation of the iconic EVH 5150III 6L6 Tube Combo, the Hypersonic offers massive digital processing power paired with a high-performance digital power amp. The result is a playing experience with the headroom, dynamic range, and immediacy you’d expect from a traditional tube design, but without the weight and maintenance baggage.

And that weight difference is no small detail! At 56 pounds, this combo comes in significantly lighter than its all-tube counterpart, making it far more practical for gigging players who are tired of hauling bricks.

The Hypersonic offers up three fully independent channels – Clean, Crunch, and Lead – each feature their own Gain, Low, Mid, High, Volume, and dedicated Noise Gate controls. That last addition is a big deal for high-gain players, allowing precise control over unwanted noise without choking sustain or feel.

The inclusion of Concentric EQ Controls for Channels One and Two tightens up the interface, while the updated 5-Button Footswitch expands real-time control. Players can now toggle Reverb and the Effects Loop directly from the floor, making it easier to shape tones mid-performance without diving into menus or reaching back to the amp.

Sonically, the Hypersonic doesn’t skimp on the physical side of tone either. A pair of 12″ Celestion EVH G12H 30W Anniversary Series speakers sit inside a Closed-Back cabinet constructed from 11-Ply 15mm Plywood.

Where things really get interesting is in the modern feature set. A Power Selector offers Full Output alongside five attenuated settings, letting you dial in saturated tones at manageable volumes. The Balanced XLR Line Out includes Impulse Response Cabinet Simulations, making direct recording or front-of-house feeds not just possible, but genuinely professional-sounding. Add in a Mute Switch for silent stage setups or late-night recording, and the Hypersonic is… not gonna piss off your roommates. Which is nice.

Connectivity is equally robust. Alongside the standard 1/4″ input, you get MIDI control, USB-C for firmware updates, a Stereo Headphone Output, and a full Effects Loop. It’s a clear nod to players who expect their amp to integrate seamlessly into both live and studio environments.

Visually, it stays true to the EVH aesthetic, available in Black or Ivory Vinyl with the unmistakable EVH logo across a woven front panel. Get it here for $1,699 and keep up with all our EVH coverage right here!
