ERNIE BALL MUSIC MAN just released their 25th-anniversary edition of the Steve Lukather signature Luke guitar, titled the LIII. Music Man has always been the guitarist’s guitar in my mind, and having a master artist like Steve Lukather on their custom roster attests to that statement. In case you didn’t know, Lukather is the guitarist and founding member of Toto, the band whose hit song Africa resurfaced in 2018 as a cover by Weezer. His career spans not only his band, but session work for legendary albums like Michael Jackson’s Thriller and production work for Chicago and Lionel Richie, as well as an extensive catalog of solo material.
The sheen of the quilted maple top is breathtaking of course, but what really does it for me is the detail of the roasted maple top neck coupled with the ebony fretboard, which makes me picture this guitar in a fine art exhibit somewhere. This new edition also sports a new custom EBMM custom electronics package and 5-way pickup selector with push/push volume control for gain boost up to 20db, so you can have more control over tone and output.
The Bermuda Blue finish is limited edition, so if you dig pick one up quick. Check out more pics and info here.
