Craigslist Find of the Week: Let’s Buy Murder Construct’s Diezel Herbert

We just killed two birds with one stone: there’s a killer amp online, ready for your procurement, and in the process we learned one of the secrets to Murder Construct’s continent-leveling aggression. It’s a Diezel Herbet. I’m not sure which guitarist it belongs to – Leon del Muerte or Chris McCarthy – but the important thing is that it could belong to you. It’s currently for sale on Craigslist but I was tipped off to the sale via the band’s recent Facebook post.

For sale: Diezel Herbert Mk1 amp, head only. In EXCELLENT condition with only a single rip in the tolex (check pictures).

Lovingly cared for, maintained and stored in a head case. Fuses replaced and retubed in March 2014 at Revamp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/revamp-amp-repair-los-angeles).

For whatever reason Diezel’s other monster amp, the VH4, always seems to garner all the attention… actually I know the reason: Adam Jones, James Hetfield, and that dude from Muse have used it. Yet I’ve always been of the opinion that the Herbet is the better sounding head. Not that they sound entirely different. Both have that distinctive hi-fi Diezel  heaviness.

Both are also expensive as hell, even used. This particular Herbert Construct is selling used for $3000. But if you’d like to make the amp used on Results give you the same… benefits, scoop it up here before someone else with a ridiculous amount disposable income snatches it first.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.

  • Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always felt like these amps sound like a tube version of the Line 6 Spider on the “insane” setting- not a lot of subtlety, and overly scooped. But they’re so infrequently used relative to 5150s and Rectifiers that maybe I haven’t heard them enough.

  • It’s mine. Thanks for spreading the word!

    • Why you selling?
