KING CRIMSON Performed David Bowie’s “Heroes” Live in Berlin

Did you know Robert Fripp wrote and performed the iconic guitar line on one of David Bowie’s most beloved songs, “Heroes”? Despite being a huge King Crimson fan, I had no idea – but then again, Fripp was so busy with session work and side projects in the 70’s and 80’s that it’s tough to keep track (e.g., highly recommend checking out his second collaboration with Police guitarist Andy Summers, I Advance Masked).

KC recently performed the Bowie classic in Germany, nearly 40 years after it was recorded. You can view the performance, which was shot 70’s-style, below. Said Fripp of the gig,

King Crimson performed Heroes at the Admiralspalast in Berlin as a celebration, a remembrancing and an homage. The concert was thirty nine years and one month after the original sessions at the Hansa Tonstudio overlooking the Berlin Wall. This is released in the Fortieth Anniversary year.

King Crimson are releasing an ep, Heroes, which features a studio recording of the track alongside some other KC classics, this june. Get details here.
