Robert Fripp of King Crimson pioneered a looping technique, dubbed Frippertronics, which involves a long tape loop stretched between two tape recorders, allowing for live looping and overdubbing.
In 1979, he applied this technique to the classic Franz Gruber Christmas Carol, to gorgeous shred-effect. Enjoy!
