OLA ENGLUND Issues The Dimebag Solo Cover Challenge

It’s no secret that Ola Englund loves him some Dimebag Darrell. He’s recorded many on-point Pantera solo covers and counts Dime as his #1 guitar influence.

As we near what would have been Diamond Darrell Abbott’s 50th birthday this coming Saturday, Ola has issued the Dimebag Solo Cover Challenge, in which he encourages guitarists to download some of his backing tracks to Pantera songs and record some of Dime’s solos, uploading them with the hashtag #DimebagLegacy.

A fitting tribute to a legendary guitarist, if you feel moved to learn and cover one of his solos, now’s a great time to do it. Ola points out that this isn’t about doing it perfectly, it’s about paying homage, so even if you’re not the world’s best guitarist, you should give it a go anyway.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
