Yamaha has teamed up with Matteo Mancuso for the Revstar Matteo Mancuso Signature RS20MM, a production version of the custom Revstar the Italian guitarist has been playing since 2019.
The RS20MM starts with a chambered Mahogany body constructed using Yamaha’s Acoustic Design Technology and topped with figured Maple. There’s a carbon-reinforced Mahogany neck with Yamaha’s Revstar profile and a redesigned neck heel based around Mancuso’s preferences, alongside a Rosewood fingerboard with a 12-inch radius and 22 frets.
Electronics come courtesy of a pair of DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbuckers. The Alnico V pickups are designed around the sound of vintage late-’50s humbuckers, balancing lower-output clarity with enough push for higher-gain sounds.
The pickups are controlled using a five-way selector alongside Yamaha’s push-pull Focus Switch, which alters the guitar’s response for a darker and more aggressive sound.
Hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic-style bridge, stopbar tailpiece, locking die-cast tuners, and gold hardware throughout.
Given Mancuso’s frankly ridiculous fingerstyle technique and tendency to cover a ton of ground between jazz, rock, and fusion, it makes sense that his signature model isn’t some completely stripped-down shred machine. Get the Yamaha Revstar Matteo Mancuso Signature RS20MM here for $1,599.99.
