Vox has introduced the AC Mini, a tiny 10-watt combo designed to bring the company’s classic amp tones to a portable practice setup.
The AC Mini features a single 3-inch speaker housed in a wooden bass-reflex cabinet and uses Vox’s all-analog Dynamic Response circuit to emulate the response and feel of its tube amplifiers. There are two channels onboard — Clean and Drive — covering everything from the company’s familiar jangly cleans to more saturated overdrive.
Controls are kept appropriately simple with Gain, Tone, and Volume knobs alongside a channel selector. There’s also a Boost switch for adding extra gain and sustain to either channel, plus onboard digital reverb designed to replicate the sound of a traditional spring reverb.
And because this is clearly aimed at practicing just about anywhere, Vox has included an auxiliary input for playing along with external audio sources. The Aux input bypasses the amplifier circuit to keep the incoming audio unaffected, while a headphone output allows for silent practice.
So if you want some Vox tones on your desk, backstage, or pretty much anywhere that hauling around an actual AC30 would be completely ridiculous, the AC Mini seems like a significantly easier option. Get the Vox AC Mini 10-watt here for $99.99.
