Sterling by Music Man recently released a new colorway of its signature Jason Richardson 7-string – engineered specifically around the demands of Richardson’s playing style and now available in a Kokiri Forest finish.

The 7-string is built on an Alder body with a Poplar Burl veneer top, featuring a custom contoured lower horn designed for improved access to all 24 medium jumbo frets. It’s paired with a Roasted Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard, running a 25.5″ scale length with a 16″ fingerboard radius. The neck measures 1.95″ at the nut and 2.6″ at the last fret, wide enough to accommodate the extra string while maintaining playability, and attaches via a 5-bolt pattern with a dual-action truss rod.
Hardware includes locking tuners for tuning stability and a modern tremolo bridge, along with white dot fret markers along the fingerboard.
Electronics center on a pair of Sterling by Music Man-designed JR humbuckers, built to Richardson’s specs for high-output, crushing tone. The control layout features a 3-way toggle pickup selector alongside two push-push controls: a 12dB volume boost and a coil-split tone control, giving players access to both full humbucker output and split single-coil tones from the same switch layout. The guitar ships strung with Ernie Ball 2621 Regular Slinky 7-String strings.
