Sterling by Music Man is expanding the StingRay line for 2026 with the StingRay Baritone, because everyone needs some downtuned goodness in their life.
The new model runs on a 27.5″ scale with 24 medium frets and ships tuned to B-standard. The body is Poplar, finished in the new Toluca Lake Blue colorway and fitted with a black pickguard and a color-matched headstock for a clean, cohesive look.
The neck is Roasted Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard, a 12″ radius, and white pearloid block inlays marking the frets. It measures 1.65″ at the nut and 2.24″ at the last fret, and attaches via a 5-bolt pattern with a dual-action truss rod for stability under lower tunings. Locking tuners round out the tuning-stability package at the headstock.
Electronics are built around an HH configuration with two ceramic humbuckers, controlled by a single volume, single tone, and 3-way toggle pickup selector — a straightforward layout aimed at delivering thick low end alongside high-gain-friendly output. A vintage-style tremolo bridge is included for players who want pitch expression without sacrificing tuning stability.
Sterling by Music Man positions the StingRay Baritone as a road-and-studio-ready instrument, pairing the familiar StingRay silhouette and playing feel with the extended range baritone players are increasingly after.
