The Weekly Riff – STRYPER’s Michael Sweet Has “Fallen” For Riffs

Stryper must be one of the most underrated and maligned bands of their genre. For a band with totally kickass songs, one of the best guitarist/vocalists in their style, and a signature look that sets them apart, they get no damn respect. In fact, Michael Sweet even played in Boston after the untimely death of Brad Delp, and there’s no slouch on earth that can fill that post.

In this tutorial, Michael demonstrates a simple riff from their song “Fallen” off their new album of the same name (out October 16th, pre-order it here), but most importantly, he shows how to play a simple riff with style and confidence. Sometimes that’s far more important than playing a ton of notes.

I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
