EVH Wolfgang Special Baked Maple

The EVH Wolfgang Special Baked Maple is a stripped-down, high-output electric guitar engineered for players who prioritize speed. Built around a Basswood body with an arched top, it delivers a balanced tonal foundation with tight Low End response and a focused midrange.

At the center of its design is a graphite-reinforced Bolt-On Quartersawn Baked Maple neck, carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen’s exact specifications. The Satin Urethane finish on the back keeps the feel fast and broken-in, while the 12″-16″ compound radius Baked Maple fingerboard with 22 Jumbo frets ensures smooth transitions across the neck. A spoke wheel truss rod adjustment system at the base of the neck allows for quick setup changes on the fly.

Tonally, the guitar is driven by a pair of EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers mounted directly to the body. This direct-mount configuration enhances resonance and sustain, giving the pickups a responsive, vocal-like quality. They excel at delivering tight, articulate rhythm tones and fluid, singing leads with plenty of harmonic content, especially under high-gain conditions.

Hardware stability is a defining feature of the Wolfgang Special. The EVH-Branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo system, paired with a locking nut, provides rock-solid tuning stability even through extreme pitch shifts. Dive bombs, flutter effects, and aggressive vibrato techniques remain consistent and in tune. The integrated EVH D-Tuna adds instant Drop D switching, allowing seamless transitions between standard and dropped tunings without interrupting performance.

The control layout is deliberately optimized for stage use. A 500K EVH Bourns low-friction Volume pot with a Treble Bleed Circuit ensures smooth swells without losing clarity, while the 250K Bourns Tone pot is intentionally stiffer to prevent accidental movement during performance.

The EVH Wolfgang Special Baked Maple is available in finishes such as Smoked Mesquite, Caution Yellow, Ivory, Stealth Black, and Gloss Black right here for $1,499.99.

EVH Wolfgang Special T.O.M

The EVH Wolfgang Special T.O.M takes the core Wolfgang platform and retools it around a fixed-bridge philosophy, offering players a more traditional feel without sacrificing modern performance features. It retains the Basswood body with an arched top, delivering the same balanced tonal character and tight Low End response that you’d expect.

Its Bolt-On Quartersawn Baked Maple neck is graphite-reinforced for stability and carved to Eddie Van Halen’s specifications, with a Satin Urethane finish on the back for fast, friction-free playability. The 12″-16″ compound radius Baked Maple fingerboard with 22 Jumbo frets ensures smooth navigation across the neck, whether you’re laying down rhythm parts or stepping into lead territory.

Where this model diverges is in its hardware. Instead of a locking tremolo system, the Wolfgang Special T.O.M features a compensated bridge and tailpiece setup with fine tuners. This configuration prioritizes tuning stability, sustain, and a more traditional playing response, making it ideal for players who prefer a fixed-bridge feel while still demanding precision and reliability on stage.

The pickups remain the same EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers, mounted directly to the body for maximum resonance and sustain. They deliver the same articulate, high-output voice as the tremolo-equipped version, with tight rhythm definition and expressive lead capability that holds together under heavy gain.

Control-wise, the T.O.M maintains the same performance-focused layout. A 500K EVH Bourns Volume pot with Treble Bleed Circuit provides smooth dynamic control, while the 250K Bourns Tone pot is designed to resist accidental changes during performance, keeping your sound locked in throughout a set.

Available in Gloss Black and Husk White with black hardware, as well as Oxblood with gold hardware, the Wolfgang Special T.O.M offers a more classic aesthetic paired with modern Wolfgang engineering. Get it here for $1,399.99.
