KEELEY Recreates The IBANEZ DM2000 Delay With New RK2000 Pedal

The RK2000 Funk Siren Delay is a pedalboard-ready recreation of the elusive delay system used by Trey Anastasio, the sonic architect behind the jam band Phish. Built in collaboration with Trey’s longtime guitar tech Justin Stabler, the RK2000 captures the sound, the feel, and the quirks of the original early-’80s rackmount unit.

At its core, the RK2000 Funk Siren Delay offers a roughly 1-second delay with some added goodies. Engage Hold, and your phrase locks in place. Toggle it in and out, and the loop begins to evolve.

What makes the RK2000 more than just a functional clone is its obsessive attention to tone. Like the original unit, it runs on a 12-bit architecture – right in the sweet spot between lo-fi grit and hi-fi clarity.

Keeley didn’t stop there. The analog character of the original circuitry is faithfully reproduced, while the Input gain control lets you push repeats into tape-like saturation, adding warmth, compression, and harmonic complexity.

And then there’s the modulation. The RK2000’s modulation section is where things get truly wild. Spanning four octaves and stretching up to nearly 44 seconds of movement, it delivers everything from subtle chorus to extreme pitch-bending madness.

A dedicated Filter control shapes the modulation’s tonal character, letting you dial in anything from smooth, liquid movement to sharp, cutting sweeps. It’s a crucial part of the Funk Siren sound – and, according to legend, one Trey insisted had to be absolutely spot.

Expression pedal mapping allows real-time control over key parameters, while a Remote jack expands access to Hold and Mod functions for live performance. Full MIDI implementation ensures seamless integration into complex rigs, while tap tempo with subdivisions keeps everything locked to the groove.

Stereo outputs open up even more possibilities, from standard dry/wet setups to ping-pong delays and fully wet ambient spreads. And with five onboard presets, you can quickly jump between drastically different textures without missing a beat.
