JOHN BROWNE’s SCHECTER Signature Gets a New Look: Ozone Burst Now Available Across 6, 7, and 8 Strings

Schecter has expanded its John Browne signature line with a stunning new Ozone Burst finish, now offered across the 6-, 7-, and 8-string Tao models – and available in both right- and left-handed configurations. Known for their surgical precision and monstrous tones, these guitars now carry a look as bold as their sound.

At the heart of each Tao model is a swamp ash body topped with flamed maple, finished in the eye-catching Ozone Burst. The Contoured Ultra Access bolt-on construction ensures unrestricted playability, while a flat top with comfort contouring balances stage aesthetics with ergonomic feel. Black hardware completes the stealth-meets-showpiece vibe.

The necks feature a 5-ply wenge/padauk laminate reinforced with carbon fiber rods, paired with an ebony fretboard for slick playability. Browne’s preference for ultra-thin “U” neck profiles translates to speed and comfort across extended ranges. Add in 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets, Luminlay side dots for visibility on dark stages, and a spoke-wheel truss rod for quick adjustments, and you have a guitarist’s dream spec sheet.

Each Tao is loaded with Schecter USA Chaosbreaker in the neck and Colossus in the bridge, delivering a tonal spectrum ranging from articulate cleans to skull-crushing high-gain riffs. A master volume with push-pull coil-split and 3-way selector ensures flexibility without cluttering the control layout. Whether you’re djenting, chugging, or layering lush cleans, these pickups keep the voice of the instrument unmistakably Browne.

The guitars are anchored by Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners and a Hipshot hardtail bridge, guaranteeing rock-solid tuning stability and resonance. Out of the box, they’re strung with Ernie Ball sets tailored to their string counts, ensuring optimal tension for down-tuned riffing and progressive voicings alike.

The Ozone Burst finish doesn’t just make the John Browne signature models look fresh – it marks another chapter in the collaboration between one of prog metal’s most technical players and a company that thrives on pushing design forward. These instruments aren’t for the faint of heart – they’re for guitarists who demand precision, reliability, and an unmistakable stage presence.
