The Story Behind Rob Cavestany’s Signature Jackson
The foundation of the new signature model dates back to Cavestany’s teenage years. Inspired by his guitar hero Randy Rhoads, the Death Angel guitarist sketched his dream instrument on a napkin, envisioning an aggressive offset body shape that stood apart from traditional guitar designs.
That concept eventually became reality in 1989 when Jackson transformed the drawing into a custom-built instrument that would become one of Cavestany’s most recognizable stage guitars. Decades later, the new Pro Series Signature model brings that distinctive design to a wider audience while remaining faithful to the original vision.

Built for Speed and Precision
At the core of the instrument is a Nyatoh body paired with a through-body Maple neck designed for maximum stability and sustain. The neck incorporates a scarf joint and graphite reinforcement rods, ensuring reliable performance under the rigors of touring, aggressive playing and changing environmental conditions.
Designed with modern metal players in mind, the Ebony fingerboard features a compound 12″-16″ radius that facilitates comfortable chord work in lower positions while allowing effortless bends and technical lead playing higher up the neck. Twenty-four jumbo frets provide ample room for intricate phrasing, while pearloid sharkfin inlays and Luminlay side dots ensure visibility in low-light stage environments.
Electronics are tailored specifically for the high-gain demands of Cavestany’s signature sound. An EMG 81 humbucker occupies the bridge position, while the neck features an EMG HA pickup designed to provide a broader frequency response and increased tonal versatility.
The controls remain intentionally streamlined, consisting of a single volume knob and a three-way pickup selector switch, allowing players to focus on performance without unnecessary distractions.
A Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo completes the package, providing the tuning stability required for aggressive dive bombs, squeals and extreme vibrato techniques. Jackson has also equipped the guitar with dual-locking strap buttons for added security during energetic stage performances.
