Guitarist Brandon Ellis has teamed up with Jackson yet again for a killer new signature model – Jackson Pro Plus Series Signature Brandon Ellis Kelly KE27. Yes, it’s the one that we saw back in 2023 (or very close to it).
Reinventing the Kelly platform
While Ellis’ first Jackson signature stayed close to traditional Kelly specifications, the KE27 represents a complete evolution of the concept.
Those changes begin with one of the instrument’s most striking appointments: 27 Stainless Steel frets, so you can really grab those high notes. And yes – it’s got a custom 25.1″ scale length. So that 27th fret makes sense.
The KE27 pairs a resonant Nyatoh body with a through-body Maple neck reinforced with Graphite and joined with a scarf joint for enhanced stability and sustain.
A 12″-16″ compound-radius Maple fingerboard keeps rhythm work comfortable while flattening out in the upper register for fast lead playing. Black Sharkfin inlays reinforce the metal aesthetic, while the Floyd Rose R2 locking nut provides Ellis’ preferred narrower string spacing for rapid-fire technique.
Topping it all off is a top-mounted Gotoh GE1996T double-locking tremolo system, engineered to withstand the most aggressive dive bombs.
Signature Seymour Duncan firepower
At the heart of the KE27 is Ellis’ custom Seymour Duncan Signature Dyad Parallel Axis bridge humbucker.
Featuring a unique hybrid coil design built around a singular bar magnet, the pickup delivers high output with impressive clarity, dynamic response, and articulation under extreme gain.
The neck position houses a Seymour Duncan PA-STK pickup, offering hum-free performance and smooth sustain for cleaner passages and expressive solos.
Players can further shape their sound via a push-pull Volume control that switches the bridge pickup between traditional series wiring and a brighter, lower-output parallel mode while retaining hum cancellation. A 3-way toggle completes the straightforward yet versatile control layout.
