Ibanez has been going pretty hard on electric-acoustic nylon-string guitars ever since they teamed up with Tim Henson for his signature model. Ibanez is now continuing to show off those models a new demo of the FRH20 in Satin Natural finish – which isn’t Henson’s signature model, but it’s still pretty damn nice!
Check that out below, grab yourself an Ibanez FRH20 in a variety of finishes right here for $649.99 (including some cheaper open-box options), and keep up with all our Ibanez coverage right here!
The FRH20 barely resembles a traditional classical guitar, but that’s kinda the point. The guitar’s solid Flame Maple top is paired with traditional fan bracing, while the Nyatoh neck sports a slim C-shaped profile that feels dramatically faster and more approachable than the chunky necks associated with conventional classical guitars.
The fingerboard design reinforces that modern sensibility. With a 1.8″ nut width and 15.75″ radius, the FRH20 remains spacious enough for articulate fingerstyle work while avoiding the cumbersome feel of a nylon acoustic.
Plugged in, the FRH20 continues to impress. Ibanez equips the guitar with its T-bar under-saddle pickup system, delivering a natural piezo response that captures the instrument’s resonance surprisingly well.
Equally important is what the electronics avoid. Many amplified nylon-string guitars suffer from brittle highs, excessive handling noise, or unpleasant piezo quack, but the FRH20 keeps those issues under control with effective noise reduction and a notably balanced response. The Maple top and Sapele back and sides retain their organic character even at stage volume.
