Focusrite is here to give you basically the opposite of their Scarlett interfaces, thanks to the ISA C8X. It’s rack-mountable, it’s a nice shade of blue, and it’s got all the lights and knobs that’ll make you look smart!
Alright, for real. At the heart of the ISA C8X are two transformer-based ISA microphone preamps, powered by Lundahl LL1538 input transformers — components long revered for their musical warmth and depth, famously selected by Rupert Neve himself.
These ISA channels offer up to 79dB of gain and feature stepped controls, switchable impedance, high-pass filters, and all-analog Console and 430 Air modes. For direct input, the front-panel instrument inputs route through the same transformer path, bringing that “iron” character to guitars, basses, and synths.

Complementing the ISA pair are six additional remote-controlled mic preamps, delivering ultra-low-noise performance with up to 69dB of gain. These channels include an analog Air mode for high-end lift and a variable Drive DSP control, giving users access to subtle saturation without sacrificing clarity.
With 26 inputs and 28 outputs, the interface is ready for serious studio integration. Eight fixed-gain balanced line inputs make it ideal for patchbay setups, while 12 balanced outputs support configurations ranging from simple stereo to full immersive 7.1.4 monitoring. Three monitor groups, front-panel switching, and a +24dBu maximum output level ensure consistent, professional-grade signal flow across any setup.

Expansion is where the ISA C8X truly shines. ADAT, S/PDIF, MIDI, and Word Clock connectivity allow the system to scale with your needs, supporting up to 26 channels of recording. Whether you’re integrating outboard gear or expanding your input count, the interface is built to grow with your studio.
On the conversion side, the ISA C8X borrows heavily from Focusrite’s high-end RedNet systems, delivering 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA performance with up to 125dB of dynamic range and ultra-low distortion.

Auto Gain simplifies level setting across all eight preamps, while Focusrite Control 2 software — available on desktop and mobile — provides remote control, low-latency monitoring, and full session recall.
