Electro-Harmonix has expanded its Pico series with the Pico Shimmer, a compact reverb pedal that combines shimmer, delay, modulation and synth-inspired textures in a stompbox small enough to fit on even the most crowded pedalboards.
Drawing from the shimmer algorithms first developed for the company’s Oceans Reverb lineup, the Pico Shimmer goes beyond traditional octave-up ambience, offering three distinct modes that range from cinematic washes to glitchy, synth-like soundscapes.

The pedal’s three selectable Scenes each take a different approach to shimmer reverb.
Intergalactic delivers the most traditional shimmer experience, blending polyphonic octaves, reverb, modulated delay and compression with a built-in string synthesis engine. Users can move between plate-style reverb, classic shimmer tones and orchestral textures using the pedal’s Voice control.
Off-World takes a softer approach, emphasizing modulation and smoother ambience. The result is a warmer, more synth-like texture that lends itself to ambient pads and atmospheric layering.
For players who prefer their ambience with a little unpredictability, Etherdust introduces randomized delay times that generate everything from subtle granular sparkle to pronounced glitch effects and stuttering echoes.
Despite its compact size, the Pico Shimmer offers a surprisingly flexible control set. Blend adjusts the wet/dry mix, Tone shapes the overall brightness and Time controls reverb decay, extending all the way to infinite sustain at maximum settings. The Voice knob serves as the pedal’s centerpiece, allowing players to morph between plate reverb, traditional shimmer and synth-inspired string textures.
A dedicated Scene button cycles through the three modes and also unlocks secondary functions, giving users access to additional parameters including reverb mix, delay time, modulation depth and modulation rate.
The footswitch also serves a dual purpose. Holding it down activates Infinite Reverb, allowing players to create sustained ambient pads and drones on demand.
Like the rest of the Pico range, the Pico Shimmer is designed to deliver maximum functionality in a compact enclosure. The pedal includes three selectable buffered bypass modes – Digital, Analog and Hybrid – and ships with a power supply in the box.
