With the Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker, Electro-Harmonix has resurrected a long-lost circuit with some pretty interesting new tweaks.
Where traditional Big Muff circuits lean toward smooth, sustaining saturation, the Pi 2 introduces a rougher edge. It still delivers that signature wall of fuzz, but with added texture and bite that react more closely to your playing.
The familiar control set — Volume, Tone, and Sustain — keeps things intuitive, covering everything from restrained grit to full-blown sonic overload.
The real twist comes from the Tone Wicker circuit. A 3-position Wicker switch introduces multiple high-frequency filter options, opening up the top end for added clarity and presence. Whether you want tighter articulation or a more cutting fuzz tone, it’s all right there.
Then there’s the Tone bypass switch, which removes the Tone control from the circuit entirely. If you need to let this thing off the leash, here’s your chance. True bypass switching also keeps your signal clean when disengaged, while the footswitch offers both latching and momentary modes.
