DUESENBERG Delivers: CHRIS CHANEY’s Alliance Bass Is A Hard-Hitter

The Duesenberg Alliance Series Chris Chaney Bass is a no-nonsense, stage-ready instrument built for working players who demand reliability, tone, and a touch of custom flair.

Built around a solid Alder body with smooth contours and a bolt-on, one-piece Maple neck, this long-scale bass balances classic construction with modern refinement. The Indian Rosewood fretboard features jumbo frets, cream dot inlays, and a custom “CC” inlay at the 12th fret—an understated nod to its namesake. The neck itself is shaped to a custom thin profile and finished with a matching headstock for a clean, cohesive aesthetic.

Tone comes from a single Duesenberg Grand Duplex Bass humbucker, a custom-designed pickup that delivers clarity and transparency without losing the low-end punch bass players rely on. It’s a no-frills electronics setup with just one volume and one tone control, keeping things simple and effective. Both knobs, along with the neck plate, are laser-etched for a subtle custom touch. The anodized aluminum pickguard, available in Black or Gold depending on finish, adds to the visual edge.

Like all Duesenberg instruments, the Duesenberg Alliance Series Chris Chaney undergoes the company’s Plek process. The frets are machine-leveled and hand-polished to deliver a smooth, buzz-free playing experience across the board. Combined with high-quality nickel hardware, Duesenberg Z-Tuners, and a rock-solid Vintage Bass Bridge, the build quality holds up whether you’re on tour or tracking in the studio.

The Duesenberg Alliance Series Chris Chaney is available in three finishes: Black, Gold Sparkle, and a limited Distressed Black edition. The latter is capped at just 10 pieces per year and undergoes a unique ageing process that includes a tone treatment—pushing specific frequencies through the instrument over several days. The result is a bass that looks and feels like it’s seen decades of stage time straight out of the case.

Speaking of the case, the Duesenberg Alliance Series Chris Chaney comes with the Duesenberg Custom Line Bag. Designed for gigging musicians, it’s lightweight yet tough, with high-impact padding, plush lining, tuck-away shoulder straps, and external pockets for accessories. Durable materials and thoughtful features make it a solid companion whether you’re heading to rehearsal or hopping on a flight.

From his days in Jane’s Addiction to his current run with AC/DC, Chris Chaney has always been a powerhouse on the low end. The Alliance Series Bass that bears his name is built to match – no gimmicks, just a serious instrument for serious players.
