Charvel and Jim Root have been working on a signature model for a little while now, and it’s finally here! The Root signature features a Mahogany body with scalloped lower back bout, bolt-on Maple neck with graphite reinforcement, and EMG Jim Root Signature Daemonum Open-Coil active humbucking bridge and neck pickups.
“By the time I learned about the whole Charvel thing, it was the MTV generation, and I remember seeing Warren DeMartini’s guitars, and I was mesmerized by them,” he said. “The sounds were incredible. Being that age and not having a lot of money, I never thought I could afford one of these guitars. But it was also a goal to reach.”
Root also discussed a little about how he got back into the Charvel family, saying “It’s cool going back to these guitars after really not owning one since my teens,” Root said. “It’s making me remember things that I haven’t done since then. It’s definitely inspiring in a nostalgic kind of way.”
